Middleton and Rochdale CLCs enhance learning across the whole curriculum by: providing courses and opportunities for individual pupils; delivering services and outreach support for a wider network of local schools, including providing extension activities for gifted and talented pupils; acting as test beds for innovation and new ways of teaching and learning; cascading best practice amongst the local network of schools; training to teachers, consultants and school support staff and linking with other facilities including other learning centres, the network of specialist and beacon schools. Middleton and Rochdale CLCs also offer opportunities to the local community and local business to utilise the power of ICT

The CLCs are adjacent to Middleton Technology School and Falinge Park High School and Performing Arts College and are part of the Excellence in Cities initiative. Both of our centres provide a number of varied learning environments all supported by modern technologies. These range from traditional classrooms with state-of-the-art large screen display to smaller meeting and study areas providing high speed Internet access, specialist hardware and software. Both centres offer new opportunities in terms of both teaching and learning. The usage made of our Centres and our resources is aimed at expanding, developing and providing new opportunities in addition to those activities already taking place in our schools and local communities.
